Amy's bridal shower

The women of the Young family (and Miles Robert Fox)enjoyed a delightful afternoon in Bountiful Saturday. Carolyn sets an inviting table adorned with Shauna's eye catching flowers down middle, and one small flower tied with satin chartreuse twine to each cloth napkin. We remembered Henrietta when we enjoyed a fresh fruit plate full of melons and berries, peaches and pears, bananas and fresh pineapple, with a flavored whipped topping. She used to serve such nutritious treats. On the side we had openface crab sandwiches with melted cheddar cheese. Our crystal goblets had lime wedges floating in the water. Nuts and chocolates were dessert.
After lunch we went upstairs to open gifts. Eliza served as Amy's able assistant handing her gift after thoughtful gift. The conclusion was the quilt made by her loving aunts and representative of her aunts faith that things always work out! We think Amy was pleased.

Missionaries

The predawn stillness was shattered this morning by a ringing telephone, just moments after Steve had turned off the 5:30 a.m. alarm. Answering, he was greeted by the exhuberant voice of our firstborn son, calling from the airport. We had received a long and newsy letter from Nate on Monday saying that he would be getting up at 2:30 Tuesday morning so they could leave by 3:30 for the airport. After taking an hour to check in they all started calling home. We talked for about 45 minutes. He has loved his time at the MTC.
Yesterday we took advantage of the same day delivery offered by Missionary Emporium on Redwood Road and sent him some of his favorite maple bars with butter cream frosting, along with parting notes from each family member. He was grateful to receive it Monday after dinner, since he'd been disappointed when he didn't get any letters on his last day in the MTC. Saving it 'til day's end, he went to the front desk and told them that his cousin was supposed to be there but he hadn't seen him for days and wanted to say good bye to him. They gave him Jesse's room #, so he sought him out and they had a bon voyage party over maple bars. I suppose that as I write, he is passing out copies of the Book of Mormon on the streets of Eugene. . .We are so grateful he has this opportunity, and, as many of you have already experienced, joyfully anticipate any news.
