Stott family
Stott FamilyAfter 2 1/2 months of frustration our internet is up and running again. Now I'm trying to remember how to do all this! I tried to add a couple of pictures through "hello". We'll see!
We had a great Christmas with all our family home, as you can see in the pictures, if I did it right. Now Angela and James are back in Houston, Nate is filling out mission papers, Stef has a new job, and the rest of us are just plugging along.
I have been occupying myself with knitting, learned from Mimi. I've made lots of baby hats, and am now trying little slippers. I crochet around burp cloths and make a baby hat for each new baby in the ward. I won't say what's next on my knitting list because it just may be a Christmas present for my granddaughter, due in early June. I also have some responsibilities in my church calling that are currently occupying my time. We have stake conference this weekend with Elder Wirthlin as the visiting authority. He has asked that the stake Relief Society president speak for seven minutes on Saturday night on the topic of building faith. I am grateful to have the talk prepared after spending most of Saturday doing it. I am using Mother's testimony in it (Steve's suggestion - which really got the whole thing going). Then, on April 9th, we have our stake women's conference. It will be an openhouse where sisters in the stake display things they make and do. It will include such things as power point presentations, one of which I hope will be a program about the honey business of a family in our stake. They took "best in State" for their honey from Wyoming clover at the 2004 state fair. I have a jar of honey for my siblings (for Christmas) but I think Martha might be the only one who has received it. I expect an outbreak of stress related pimples about a week prior to the event.

Dawson & Carter
Well our boys sure are growing up! Carter turned 3 on Monday! He got a "big boy" bike for his birthday. Now we just need to get him to be a "big boy" and get out of diapers! I guess the next project I will take on!
Carter loves being with Dawson but I think he also enjoys the quiet time while brother is at Kindergarten! Carter is developing his own funny personality! He can be quite a handful at times. A few weeks ago at church, he loudly proclaimed, "I am never coming back here again!" All of this because we didn't let him actually handle the tray as it was passed along!
Oh and he often tells Cory and me, "you are not in MY CLUB!" I guess the joys of having an older brother! He sure is fun to have around though! He is the oldest boy in Nursery and full of energy and enthusiam, and talks so much more than any other children in there. I think this might end up being a long year for him!
Dawson is loving Kindergarten! The office got to know us well in a two week period! I got a call to come and pick him up from school. There had been an accident in P.E. and Dawson lost his tooth! I was very surprised and what a way to remember our very first lost tooth! Dawson had his shirt in his mouth. A girl came up and pulled on his shirt and out came the shirt as well as his tooth! We had NO idea that it was even lose.
Then a few days later we got another call as he had an accident in class and his eyelid was bleeding. He was reaching for a pencil and hit his eye on the corner of the table. Later he mentioned something about a girl not sharing the pencil and it fell. So he tried to hurry and get it. . . We can only imagine as he has a very competitive nature. He is now in gymnastics. We got a coupon for a free month while trick or treating and he has enjoyed it ever since.
Cory and I are both doing well. Busy trying to keep up with these kids and then the other children in the neighborhood with our various callings! Oh we finally got a digital camera for Christmas! So I'll include some pictures!
I need to pick Dawson up from a friend's house now. She invited him to play after school. They got to walk home together. Of course the house is next to the school, but still I can't believe my child is growing up. I will hurry and pick him up and then rush him to another girls birthday party! I can hardly keep up with his social calendar! They sure are a lot of fun though. Hope you enjoy the pictures! Great to see so much family over the holidays!

Snowed In!
Hmm! We could get used to this New York thing - they actually cancelled church today because of snow! I don't think I've ever seen that in Utah! Anyway, it's sort of getting to be a long couple of days now that we haven't been able to go anywhere and we just have to stay in our little basement which is struggling in these below-freezing temperatures. It was 6 degrees when I took Ryan to school the other day!
So in the past few months we've had a good time enjoying more of New York. We got in to the David Letterman show and had front row seats, which was great fun, but unfortunately he didn't come into the audience that night. Then we enjoyed the NYC Christmas - going to the Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. It was wonderful! Then we went to Rockefeller Center and enjoyed the tree and watched people ice skate, saw the windows at Saks Fifth Avenue, went into St. Patrick's Cathedral, and stopped in at FAO Shwartz to see all the one-of-a-kind, ridiculously expensive toys. One of which is a kids gas powered Rolls Royce that was somewhere around 50,000+!!! We also got to see "Wicked," which is a new Broadway musical that is absolutely fabulous. It is the untold story of the witches of Oz, and I think it is going on tour this year, so if anyone gets a chance, they should see it. Oh, and backing up a little, I ended up hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house my first married year! I certainly wasn't planning on that, but there seemed to be quite a few of us stragglers with nowhere else to go!
Anyway, our Christmas in Utah was lots of fun. The Francom's came and stayed over at my mom's on Christmas Eve, which made it much more exciting for Ryan and my mom and me. Before we got to Utah, though, I had to be in charge of putting on the ward Christmas party here. Whew. It's certainly a lot of work when you only have one other committee member and then just your poor husband who you drag along! It seems to be the new family curse - I guess Mark has the same calling as activities chariman right now!
Over Christmas we also had the funeral of my Grandma Hunsaker, who was 96 and very ready to go. We were happy for her to move on. She had a very fulfilling life here.
Looking forward, my mom gave us tickets to Madame Butterfly for Christmas, so we'll be going to that soon. Then in March we're going to Cambodia. I have been trying to use frequent flyer miles to go somewhere cool like Hawaii, or back to South Africa, but seats are never available. So I finally had the idea that probably not many people were going to Cambodia. I was right. So that's where we're going over spring break. Ryan was originally called to serve his mission in Cambodia, and even went into the MTC and started learning Cambodian, but then there was civil war and his call got changed to Chile. So he's always wanted to go there, and we figure now is as good a time as any. His family also travels quite a bit, so his brother and sister decided to come along with us as well.
Well, if anyone has any fun Christmas pictures, send them to me and I'll post them! My email is jen_isom@hotmail.com. I also haven't really seen Alexis's baby, so if Kath has any pictures, I'd love to see some of those too! Or anyone else's kids. We're out of the loop! Love to all!

The Nielsens
Thanks Jennie for posting our pictures of Katie. I wasn't sure I'd find the time to figure out how to post pictures. This week Katie is 5 months old and Ian turned 7. Next year he'll be baptised. Where does the time go? December 16th Katie will have been in our home for 6 months. Our adoption finalization court date is set for that exact day, with her temple sealing following (not scheduled until after court finalization) and blessing scheduled for the first Sunday of the New Year. We'll inform you of exact temple dates ASAP. Meanwhile . . . we are moving to South Jordan to our new home 5112 W Woodridge Drive. Ken was looking forward to negotiating a good deal on a new home, put a low offer on a house that had been vacant for awhile in a great area, and they took our offer without blinking an eye. Last week we started showing our home and it's already sold. I was hoping, in the back of my mind, to have a place big enough for both our families to come for Katie's sealing & blessing but seeing as it's already November that seemed a far cry. Surprise, surprise! Best of all, there are two steps to enter the front door and that's it: everything I need is on one floor. No more children waking each other up all night long, a garden tub I can get into by myself, a large fenced backyard and enough storage space to put everything away. Yahoo! We're close to the Jordan River temple, Jordan Landing and Ken's work.
Katie is a dear, wonderful blessing in our lives. She has big brown eyes and spends most of her awake time taking it all in. Her big brown eyes calmly look you straight in the eye until she bursts into a smile from ear to ear. Ian is a great big brother. He's so good with her. He does love to scare her though, which also sends Ken & I through the roof. I had to laugh the other morning before the break of dawn when I heard Katie squeal as loud as she could. Her little head bobbed up like a turtle from her basinet as she looked around. She saw Ian asleep in his bed and let loose a big squeel. He retorted, "You stinky skunk" and rolled out of bed with his heart still racing from the scream. Like Ian, the first week Katie was in our home she fixed a stare and Mom & Dad's picture any time she was in our livingroom. You could turn her body any direction and her head would turn to look at their picture. I know Mom & Dad love Katie. I can feel it every time I hold her. I can't wait to take her to the temple and have her share in the blessings of our eternal family. Heaven sure opened up to get her in our home. So many, many miracles.
It sure was fun to see Aunt Lorna at Carolyn's. She grabbed Katie and put her right on her lap, while the rest of us patiently waited for our turn to hold her.
