Anyone Interested?

I need to get back to work in the next few weeks and am looking for someone to watch my kids 1-2 days a week. The lady I have used the past two years can't do it anymore.  Any 1-2 days Monday through Friday.  On Mondays and Wednesdays it would only be 10-4 (Grace has preschool on Mondays and Wednesdays in the foothill area) and the other days would be 8 or 8:30 - 3:30 or 4. I am very flexible with me dropping them off somewhere or having them watched here.  Call me if you know of anyone that might be interested or if you are.  I want to find someone that I know or someone that I know trusts.  I am a little nervous to just pick a random person on a childcare website.  I am planing on paying someone so please let me know if you know of anyone.

Utah State Champion

We just got back at this late hour from the Utah State Gymnastics Meet held at Salt Lake Community College. Jessica participated and took first place in the state in the Excel Platinum division.

She scored a personal best of 36.7 all around. She was first place of the 13 year olds in Platinum and then we found out she was first place out of all age groups of the Platinum division.

She took first place on floor, bars and beam and second place on vault. Jessica's team also took first place in the state. It's been a very fun and exciting day for Jessica!

Jeremy is off to the Provo MTC!

Elder Jeremy Richard Annen got off this morning to the Provo MTC. We drove up and there were several elders there ready to help him with his bags and walk him inside. So, we just dropped him off.....

I found that it wasn't nearly as easy as many of you have made it look over the years. I have asked so many people, "So how did it go dropping your son (or daughter, brother, sister) off at the MTC?" And, SO many people have said, "Fine, great....." and have gone on with the conversation as if there were nothing to it! Impressive! I am going to need a while before I can answer without my voice being a little bit shaky. (Will that ever happen?)

estimated departure date for South Korea, Seoul is March 27, 2012.

BYU Homecoming dinner

This group was all lucky enough to be guests of Sharon and Hugh at a homecoming dinner at BYU for past student body officers.

Fun for these cousins to get together from across the world and room in the same building at BYU!

Grammy and the boys

If my mom looked a little worse for wear after this summer it was because of this crew!  We, however, had a fantastic summer!  It was everything we had hoped for - bearable temperatures, time in the backyard, sprinklers (I have never seen such delight in Cash as his first real experience running through the sprinklers!), ice cream, swimming lessons down the street, parks, parades, cousins, cousins, and more cousins.  My mom was a real trooper putting up with us all that time - but at least she was rewarded with a good picture with my boys!  That is a really rare occurrence!  I have tried for ages to get one with these uncooperative boys and one shot with her and it was perfect. Thanks to her and the rest of my family for working so hard to help us have the best summer ever!

Family History

Two months after Grandpa Hatch's 10th birthday his father passed away. When Grandpa was 17 years old his mother, Henrietta, married a man named James B. Ross. I have the simple gold band he gave her, inscribed "J to E"; James to Etta. The 1916 Canadian Census shows that James and Etta Ross lived next door to Tom and Grace Hatch.

In this picture we have James and Etta with Grace, Tom, and I assume, Tom's sister, Lucy.

We have had very little information on James B. Ross, and what we had was inconclusive. I think we knew that at some point he lived in Colorado. With the help of a dedicated ward member we found a census record with James living with his grandfather, Alexander Oliver, in Pennsylvania. It indicated Alexander was from Scotland. One thing led to another, and now we have some temple work that needs to be done. We have three men needing baptisms, confirmation, initiatory and endowments, and 6 men who need to be sealed to their parents. We also have 10 women who need baptism, confirmation, initiatory and endowments, with nine needing to be sealed to parents. We have one one marriage sealing to perform. I think it would be ideal if we could do the endowments and sealings together, which would require 3 men and 10 women. If anyone would like to do the baptisms and confirmations, or initiatory please let me know.

Japan

I talked to Jane about 7 AM our time this morning. She was with the older boys at the school when the earthquake happened. Tomorrow, or now I guess today in Japan it is supposed to be their big festival/carnival/fundraiser. (Can't remember what she calls it exactly. But I believe that was why she was at the school, getting ready for it.)

Greyson and all Elementary students had the day off as it was parent/teacher conferences. Greyson probably had the worst experience. He was over swimming at the American Club. He was on the top floor where the swimming pool is. They all got out of the pool but then the pool did it's own type of tsunami thing. All the water went one way and then back the other way and down the stairs. From what I understand. Scary and freaky.

On Jane's ride way home she stopped at the store and she said the shelves were literally empty. She was at home listening to CNN when I reached her. She said when she got home she had about 15 phone messages. 10 of them from Mark. Cell phones were not working, only the landline. I am a bit confused because I think maybe Mark was trying to fly to Japan. I'm wondering if he was coming for the weekend or the festival or just trying to come and be with his family. I have not heard anything else on that.

Greyson returned home while I was talking to Jane. He had been with a family from the American Club. He was going to sleep over but that family had so many others over that couldn't get home. Also I'm sure Jane just wanted to have her boys near.
Morgan and Jackson had not returned from school yet and by then they would have been on the bus for about 8 hours. While talking with her the school emailed that their bus was going to be another hour.

I haven't talked to them again but I'm thinking the no news is good news saying holds true. I am hoping they have slept some and are possibly sleeping in.

Jane said they were fine but definitely shaken up over the whole thing.

Here is the amazing news!!!! She wanted to get home and clean up the mess, such as broken glass before the boys arrived. There wasn't a single broken glass or any signs of damage at all. She said they must be living in the strongest place!!!! Even the chopsticks remained, they hadn't moved. So that is good news! That is what I am thinking about and picturing as these aftershocks continue.
